Why study History at CCC

History programs create humanists who are individuals educated broadly across the curriculum and who draw conclusions from the evidence. Their methods and broad understanding make humanists independent thinkers.

As a history student at CCC, through the study of the past, you will develop and expand not only your knowledge of the human condition but also various analytical and presentation skills. The types of activities you might enjoy include:

  • Researching and presenting information
  • Reading and storytelling
  • Teaching and life-long learning
  • Analyzing evidence and drawing conclusions
  • Developing and debating reliable research techniques

Our Philosophy

History is the study of the human condition; politically, economically, socially, intellectually, and culturally. It examines all facets of the human experience from the rise of civilization to the present. No other discipline covers the range of subjects that are touched upon by history: This is what makes history unique. History is one of the most democratizing experiences in the college, addressing the history of people from across the world, across social classes, races, and genders.
