Week of March 10, 2025
Good afternoon!
Tenure
On March 4, at their regularly scheduled Board meeting, the SCCCD Board of Trustees approved moving five of our faculty to regular contract status. These five faculty members were recommended to the Board for tenure status by their tenure teams, comprised of faculty and deans. I want to thank the teams of faculty and deans who have dedicated time and energy to assuring a meaningful process for all. Your insight and feedback have helped to nurture a new team of tenured faculty and is thus invaluable. I want to thank the five faculty who have spent the past four years undergoing rigorous evaluations and working on their craft. This marks a significant milestone in the professional journey for each! Please join me in congratulating our newly tenured faculty, whose accomplishment we will celebrate as a college later in the semester (watch for details):
- Amy Danowitz
- Geraldy Eisman
- Rebekah Villalta
- Nathan Wensko
- Malachi Whitford

Attached, please find Legal Advisory 2025-02-27: California Sanctuary Jurisdiction – Reminders and Resources. This was provided by CCCCO General Counsel Kathy Lynch in response to immigration enforcement activities. The document includes reminders to California Community Colleges of our responsibilities under SB 54 and AB 21 and contains links to additional resources.
Attached, please find US Department of Ed OCR FAQs. This information was compiled by the US Department of Education's Office for Civil Rights in response to questions about the Dear Colleague letter about DEI practices at institutions of higher education. It seeks to clarify matters related to racial preferences under Title VI of the Civil Rights Act. As a reminder, we continue our efforts in support of students and remain compliant with existing, pertinent laws.
