Office of Instruction Update - April 2024

Good morning! Here are a few highlights for the month of April:

Honors Symposium

I returned from some time off to a whirlwind of a month! I had the pleasure of welcoming to our campus colleagues and students from Reedley College and Madera College for the Honors Symposium on April 20. The students were absolutely impressive in their work and in their presentation of that work. Many thanks to the faculty and staff who served as judges or as mentors who came out to support the students! And, a special note of gratitude to Omar Ruiz, who worked so hard to pull together a fantastic day for all. With Clovis students taking top prizes, it was indeed a good day!

Faculty Interviews

Most of my time this month was spent in second interviews with Dr. Armstrong for faculty positions, and what amazing people we've met! It has been a pleasure, and what impressive talent is coming our way. Next year's NFI cohort will be as fantastic as those who preceded them, and undoubtedly, we will continue to do great things!

Celebration to Honor Newly Tenured Faculty

From new faculty to newly tenured faculty: tomorrow, it will be my pleasure to join the celebration honoring the granting of tenure for nine highly deserving individuals! Please join me in congratulating these highly accomplished colleagues, and please join the celebration on Wednesday (5/1) at 3:00 pm in AC2-276:

  • CJ Albertson
  • David Cao
  • Stephanie Coffman
  • Dawn Hart
  • Lawton Nichols
  • Helena Reed
  • Charlotte Samuels
  • Tracy Stuntz
  • Christina Wells

Academic Year Wrap-Up

As you wrap up the semester and prepare to support our students through finals and as we prepare to host/attend all the year-end celebrations that make this time of year so special, I'm extending a heartfelt thank you to every single person for your commitment to our students. It's an honor to do this work and especially alongside all of you! Wishing you each an easy wrap-up to the academic year and wishing our students the best on their final exams! May we all slide easily into a fun and memorable summer!

Thanks,

Monica Chahal, Ed.D. (she, her)
