Happy #DisabilityAwareness month, Crush Family! We are excited to announce our special guest of honor, Melvin Velasquez, as part of our celebration. Mr. Velasquez is a former State Center Community College District student and a Fresno State alum who has recently earned his MBA and is the CEO of his startup company PCA Now. Traditionally, guest speakers are invited to campus to present in person, but due to Melvin's disability and the need for captioning services, DSP&S is presenting a pre-recorded speakers' edition.
Melvin is already challenging the status quo and defying ableism with this avenue of presenting. We encourage you all to watch our thirty five-minute discussion (linked below) where Melvin shares how he overcame educational barriers while earning his degrees. Melvin offers valuable insights on how we can create an inclusive environment for individuals with observable disabilities and shares his thoughts on disabilities in general.
