American Council of Teachers of Foreign Languages (ACTFL)
ACTFL is dedicated to the improvement and expansion of the teaching and learning of all languages at all levels of instruction.
The American Sign Language program at Clovis Community College is fully equipped with new technology, software, and furnishings to support students' active visual learning. Our instructors are native to the American Sign Language from diverse learning experiences. They are trained to guide students to practice and develop skills required to learn the American Sign Language's rich content via online instruction or in-class instruction.
Learn American Sign Language. Explore our culture and community. Deepen your global knowledge.
The study of American Sign Language provides the learner an in-depth view of the Deaf culture and language that help the students transcend their own cultural boundaries. In an increasingly globalized environment, American Sign Language is the primary tool to learn about the social, historical, educational, and cultural aspects of the American Deaf. Clovis Community College places a strong emphasis on ASL as a language. Our curriculum focuses on the uniqueness of ASL as a language, Deaf Culture, Deaf History, and Deaf Education practices to meet the General Education requirement for a Bachelor's degree at UC and CSU universities and beyond.
