On Thursday, June 15, a “Juneteenth: Celebration of Freedom” event was held to recognize the history of Juneteenth and celebrate the victory and liberty of African American/Black individuals. Dr. Marvita Gowdy shared the significance and importance of this national holiday. CCC hosted a Pride Flag Raising Ceremony followed by a Pride Resource Fair where attendees could write a message of love and hope and post it on the Pride flag poster in the AC1 Lobby. On June 14, Dr. Armstrong served on a speaking panel for the National African American Youth Initiative (NAAYI). She spoke to African American high school students from Buchanan and Clovis West High Schools who are interested in medicine and STEM careers, and about the STEM opportunities at CCC.
June 2023
Nearly 400 graduates participated in the 8th Annual Commencement Ceremony on May 19 at Clovis Community College. It was a memorable event for everyone. Thank you to Trustee Deborah Ikeda for participating at this special event. About 1,131 students are eligible for degree/certificate conferral which are being processed by Admissions and Records. In many cases, graduating students earn more than one degree so CCC will award approximately 2,511 degrees and certificates for the 2022-23 (Summer 2022, Fall 2022, Spring 2023) academic year.
May 2023
CCC is named a "2023 Champion for Excelling in Equitable Course Placement" by the Campaign for College Opportunity. The Crush Athletics Department visited students at the Diamond Learning Center (DLC) on April 12. Student-athletes mingled, signed autographs, and distributed Crush "swag packs". A big "CRUSH" heartfelt congratulations to Caryss Johnson for being recognized as the 2023 Classified Professional of the Year at the Mega Conference on April 14.

An amazing Welcome Reception was held on campus on March 15 for President Dr. Kim E. Armstrong. Employees, community members, and dignitaries enjoyed the special event. Faculty, staff, and administrators recently completed a state and federal emergency response training program led by West Coast Consulting Group, Inc. Attendees worked through various disaster scenarios and outcomes. The Disabled Student Programs and Services Department held a "Transition to College" event on March 9. It was a great turnout with 68 students and parents in total.

Various events were held in February to honor and celebrate Black History Month. CCC earned two placements on the "Best Accredited Colleges 2023 rankings. Speaker Kevin McCarthy invited Dr. Kim Armstrong to a community roundtable to provide input on higher education educational issues. CCC hosted the Soroptimist International of Clovis Annual Scholarship Awards where 35 local women were honored with cash awards to assist with their educational goals.
February 2023
Dr. Kim E. Armstrong joined the Crush Family as President and welcomed students to their first day of the Spring 2023 semester. CCC celebrates Black History Month with engaging events and activities. SCCCD Trustees visited both campuses to learn about the college's incredible programs and services.

CCC exceeds the 6th annual Giving Tuesday goal on November 29 with a $200,000 gift! The Crush Pantry hosted a successful holiday food giveaway on November 22. The President's Breakfast was held on October 25 with over 300 guests participating. The City of Fresno Mayor Jerry Dyer and Council Members proclaim "Dr. Lori Bennet" Day.

CCC earns statewide recognition from the Campaign for College Opportunity. CCC supports DACA Students with various activities during Undocumented Student Action Week. Counselor Rachel Moring Garcia was recognized by the College Futures Foundations. Rocktoberfest was a big hit.
October 2022
National Hispanic-Serving Institutions Week is Recognized by the White House. CCC's Early Childhood Education Program hosts Districtwide meeting. Welcome Black events hosted as part of the African American Success Initiative. Outreach Participates at College Night and the Central California Women's conference.
September 2022
Opening Day was held on August 4th, and everyone was excited to start the new semester in person. Welcome week activities offered help and smiles. Crush Days/New Student Orientation took place on August 3, 4, and 5 where nearly 300 students participated. Congratulations to Physics Professor Nadar Inan who will present his most recent paper at the American Physics Society's Far West Section 2022 annual meeting.

President Dr. Bennett and team complete the enrollment management academy. Congresswoman Connie Conway visits Clovis Community College. New student data out for the 2021-2022 academic year. Amazon Career Choice program brings students to CCC.
