Week of March 31, 2025

Good morning, colleagues.

I will be out of the office on March 31 and April 1. Kimberly Duong will serve as the admin in charge on both days.

Strategic Plan (2025-29)

College Council will be discussing the latest draft at our meeting on Thursday, April 3 (2:30-4:20 in AC3-256). The plan was forwarded to Classified Senate last week and will be forwarded next to Academic Senate and ASG. Please watch all agendas for your opportunity to provide feedback through your representatives.

Meet Ups with Monica

I am excited to hold several Meet Up with Monica! meet-ups in April and May. These are informal meet-ups for us to come together for casual conversation. I invite you to bring your lunch and join me. All Meet Ups are from 12:00 p.m. – 1:00 p.m. in AC1-281. The first meet up is on Wednesday, April 9th.

Community College Month

April is Community College Month, and we will celebrate on April 10 with a few activities happening on campus, including free paletas from La Michoacana for students thanks to Student Activities! Encourage your students to stop by the center of campus in front of the Bookstore/Cafe for a free paleta. This will also coordinate with a farmers' market and food distribution on campus. Additionally, in honor of Community College Month, we will welcome everyone to campus and provide written affirmation of our support for our students, especially our most vulnerable students. A heartfelt thank you to the group of faculty, classified professionals, and administrators who suggested this!

I am requesting volunteers for cross-sectional teams of administrators, classified professionals, faculty, and students for 15-minute shifts to greet our students as follows:

Herndon Campus:

Bonnie and the VPs will identify a schedule based on classes being held on campus on April 10. If you work at Herndon, please consider participating.

Willow Campus:

  • 8:45-9:00
  • 9:45-10:00
  • 10:45-11:00
  • 11:45-12:00
  • 12:45-1:00
  • 1:45-2:00
  • 2:45-3:00
  • 3:45-4:00
  • 4:45-5:00 A full team has been identified.
  • 5:45-6:00 A full team has been identified.
Maricarmen Figueroa is coordinating student participation, and I will be tapping some administrators for their participation! I hope that faculty and classified professionals will volunteer for at least one shift. This is an opportunity to show students our appreciation for choosing us for their academic journeys and to affirm our commitment to a safe and welcoming environment for them. Faculty and classified professionals, if you like to volunteer, please email Bonnie Boonthavongkham.
