Office of Instruction Update - May 2024

Good morning, colleagues.

May was busy with end-of-the-year celebrations and recognitions! This month is naturally a good one for reflection and acknowledgments. As we acknowledged and celebrated the accomplishments of our students, I was reminded of the critical support every single person at the college provides to make those acknowledgements and celebrations possible. I was pleased to participate in the Finish Strong campaign by serving dinner to our students outside AC1, the Crush End of the Year Athletics banquet, the OTA pinning ceremony, the ECE graduation celebration, the Leon S Peters Honors Program, the Title V/PODER-sponsored STEM Research Symposium, the newly tenured faculty celebration, Classified School Employee Week, and of course Commencement 2024! I enjoyed all of these activities immensely but, unfortunately, missed a couple. Each event provided an opportunity to reflect on and acknowledge the good work that is happening at Clovis. I am grateful to be part of this team and work alongside all of you!

Accessibility Capability Maturity Model (ACMM)

We wrapped up our time with the ACMM (Accessibility Capability Maturity Model) visiting team and now await their feedback about our website. That report will launch conversations in the fall about ensuring a website that is accessible to all, so please be on the lookout for more information on this topic.

I'm looking forward to a summer of planning and working sessions with the Instructional deans in preparation for the 2024-25 academic year!

Thanks,

Monica Chahal, Ed.D. (she, her)
Vice President of Instruction
