Office of Administrative Services Update - September 2024

Update from Interim Vice President, Kim Duong

September has been extremely busy but also very exciting as I begin to settle into my new role.

On September 4th we celebrated Lorrie Hopper and her dedication to our district and especially to our college. We kept Lorrie busy on her last day with a day full of meetings. We all said farewell to Lorrie (mostly on time) on September 6th.

I had the opportunity to attend our Clovis Community College Scholarship Ceremony on September 12th. It was a wonderful event where we celebrated our students. I heard the stories of the students sitting at my table and was in awe of their accomplishments thus far and where they plan to go in the future. It was a wonderful reminder that these students are our "Why".

September 27th our campus had our annual emergency response training. A big thank you to West Coast Consulting Group, Inc. for coming out and leading the training once again. It allowed us to hone our skills of collaboration, teamwork, and communication as we worked through an emergency scenario.

We ended the month with another farewell. After 22 years with the district, we congratulated Cathy Ostos on her retirement. She was truly an asset to our Administrative Services team and will be missed.

I will have an update on who will be taking on the executive assistant position soon.

AC-3 Updates:

A lot of movement occurred with AC-3 this month. During September we saw the fence come down around the building. The contractors have moved out the trailers and most of the equipment in Parking Lot J. The lot still needs to be repainted, and we plan to add staff parking to part of the lot soon. The date of when we will be able to use the lot for parking will be coming soon!

Landscaping was added at the front of the building which is making the spaces more beautiful and welcoming. Landscape work is still being done behind the building.

Shaded tables and garbage cans have been moved to the front of the building to allow students to enjoy the outdoors and beautiful space of the building.

The mural in the main lobby area has been installed too! It really gives the space that feeling of the Clovis Crush spirit. I encourage you to take a look at it if you have not had a chance to do so already.

We had a furniture delivery September 26th, most of which was in our main lobby area for the students.

We still have items that are still in progress for the building, but the contractors are working their way through the list. Please continue to email me if there are any issues you discover around AC-3 and I will work with the contractors.
