Office of Administrative Services Update - August 2024
Update from Interim Vice President, Kim Duong
I am excited to have the opportunity to co-write the August update with Lorrie as this will be her last. The majority of August was spent transitioning into my new role. I am thankful for the time I have with Lorrie as she helps prepare me for what my new day-to-day will be like.
I conducted interviews with Matthew Richmond, Madera’s Vice President of Administrative Services, to hire an interim Business Office Manager. I would like to welcome back Desiree Encinas who will be serving as interim Business Office Manager while we work to fill the position permanently.
Office Moves
The Business Office has moved from AC1 to AC3. Please make sure to direct students looking for the Business Office to AC3-250. Administrative Services has also relocated from Herndon Campus back to the main campus in AC3.
AC3
We received an update from Darden Architects that the remaining furniture from our original orders are scheduled to be delivered during the second week in September. From there we will work on a date for installation in AC3.
Lorrie and I also met with the designer at Darden Architects during the last week in August to discuss window coverings in AC3. She will be working on what the best option will be for the building.
I have been working with Lorrie to create an outstanding items list for AC3. While we were hoping to get most of the items resolved, there will still be things to work through after Lorrie’s last day. The items we are aware of are on the contractor’s to-do list to resolve.
If there are any new items that come up during Lorrie’s last week, please make sure to include me in those emails so that I can follow up with the contractors.
Update from former Vice President, Lorrie Hopper
The Business Development Center has exceeded their 2024 goals. Some of the highlights include serving 954 clients. They had set the goal of serving 615. They had 73 new business starts and their goal had been 49. Congratulations to the SBDC. They continue to do a wonderful job serving those who want to start or expand a small business.
On August 27, I attended my last Clovis Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors meeting. I have enjoyed representing Clovis Community College on this board and will miss this wonderful group of people. Rich Mostert will replace me on this board, and he attended the August meeting where he was sworn in.
I have been working hard trying not to leave too many loose ends for Kimberly to tie up, but I’m afraid there will be some. Friday is my last day, and I will be off to a new life of reading, taking long walks and traveling. Kimberly and I have been working together the last two weeks, which has been wonderful. She has an extensive background in Business Services and Administrative Services and will do a great job in her new role of Vice President of Administrative Services.
