Office of Administrative Services Update - July 2024
In early July, I participated in a job walk to look at possibilities for new indoor and outdoor signage. The team on the walk had a lot of good ideas and we are in the process of getting estimates so we can move forward with the project.
My team has spent most of July working on our final journal entries and transfers so that the books can be closed for the 2023-24 fiscal year and finalizing the budget for 2024-25. Both of those projects are going well and the budget is almost complete.
Academic Center Three will be available to us on August 5. The contractors will still be on site since not all work has been completed. We are able to enter the building the week of the 5th, but we still need to wear hard hats for the first few days. If you need to enter the building to unpack boxes or set up your office, please obtain a hard hat from the Seals Construction trailer. We are bringing in additional hard hats for next week.
The majority of the Mechatronics and Occupational Therapy Assistant equipment has been moved from Herndon Campus to AC3. A large equipment order will be going into AC3 on Monday. All boxes packed by faculty who are moving into the new building have been moved to AC3. A few pieces of furniture for the common areas are on back order, but we have received all the office furniture and the majority of the furniture for the classrooms. We are working on a back up plan for the classrooms that are missing some furniture, in case the delivery doesn’t arrive in time for classes on August 12.
All faculty computers have been moved to AC3 and are ready to go. Computers have been set up in the second floor computer lab and the tech team is working on the first floor lab. Instructor work stations (lecterns) have been deployed. We are waiting for the contractor to finish programming the audio/video projection systems in the classrooms.
There is a delay with the recording studio. The contractor anticipates that the rooms will be available in early September.
Although the contractors have been cleaning up as they go along, the final cleaning of the building has not occurred, so there will probably be some dust around at the beginning of the week.
Work started, in spring 2024, to replace our existing cameras in AC1 and AC2 and add additional cameras to both buildings. We also plan to replace outside cameras and add additional ones. In July, Phase 1 of the project was completed – replacing and adding new cameras to AC2. I am working with the District Office to determine the best time to work on replacing existing cameras and adding new cameras to AC1. This will be the second phase of the project.
Thanks,
