Office of Administrative Services Update - June 2024
On June 20, I attended the Clovis Chamber of Commerce Leadership Summit at Clovis Veterans Memorial District. It was a wonderful event and with three motivational speakers including former Deputy Mayor of City of Fresno, Matthew Grundy.
I was also able to attend the Vice President of Student Services Public Forums and listened to all six candidates answer questions that were submitted.
I received an update for AC3 from Ridgerunner Engineering on Friday, June 28. Please see below.
- The booster pump is on schedule to be complete for the start of school
- The technology subcontractor is working 6 ten hour days per week and coordinating with the district’s 3rd party testing.
- We are still working on the schedule for faculty and staff move in the last week of July.
Also, this week we are receiving the last of our furniture orders and are starting to get some of the equipment in. Next week a large portion of the equipment will be received and items moving from Herndon Campus to AC3 are scheduled for the week of July 22.
Governor Newsom signed the 2024 state budget legislation last week. The budget addressed a 46.8 billion dollar shortfall which includes reductions in spending of 16 billion, use of reserves of approximately 6 billion, some items were funded with funds other than general, and delays and deferrals will be used. Education fared well in this budget with Extended Opportunity Programs and Services (EOPS), Disabled Students Programs and Services (DSPS), CalWorks, and CARE receiving the 1.07 percent COLA. It’s a very good budget for us this year, but cuts may still be ahead in 2025 and 2026.
Thank you.
