Office of Administrative Services Update - May 2024
On May 1, I was able to walk thru our Spring Extravaganza event and see what the vendors were selling. There were a lot of nice items and food trucks. Very good event. Later that day, I was able to attend the Newly Tenured Faculty Celebration. I was excited to attend this since I have worked on committees and projects with some of these newly tenured faculty. That evening, I attended the 28th Annual Torch of Excellence Banquet at the Clovis Veterans Memorial District and got to see our scholar athletes recognized.
I attended the Central California Food Bank “Empty Bowls” banquet. Empty Bowls is a nationally recognized event put on by food banks across the country and is one of the Central California Food Banks annual fundraisers.
On May 8, I attended Clovis Community College’s first Athletics Banquet at Fort Washington Country Club. It was another wonderful event to celebrate our student athletes.
On May 10, I listened to Governor Gavin Newsom’s May Revision to the 2024-25 budget. This proposal included a 1.07 percent COLA and full implementation of the Student Centered Funding Formula and maintaining the state’s commitment to 2024-25 serving as the new funding floor.
Later in the month, I was able to do a very quick walk thru of the new building (AC3) along with our Science Laboratory Coordinators. Much progress had been made since my last visit.
On May 22, I had the privilege of serving pizza to our classified professionals at Herndon Campus. Monica joined me and we had a wonderful time talking to the Herndon classified professionals. All Herndon Campus administrators were invited to the Classified School Employee Week barbeque on Friday. Most of us attended and it was a lot of fun and a lot of food.
Thank you.
