What is UCLA TAP?
UCLA Transfer Alliance Program (TAP) is a priority admission review program hosted by UCLA in consort with California Community College honors programs that complete a rigorous review process through the office of UCLA admissions.
TAP Admission Rates
In 2020 general transfer Students were admitted to UCLA at a rate of 24%. By contrast, TAP applicants were admitted at a rate of 78%.
Alternate Major Consideration
TAP certification entitles students to be reviewed for admission in a alternate major. Students must meet the UCLA major preparation requirements in their secondary major. The secondary major must be within the College of Letters and Sciences (L&S) and some impacted majors are also excluded from consideration as alternate majors for TAP. The alternate major must also be the alternate major indicated on the student's official UC application.
What Majors Are Eligible for TAP?
The Transfer Alliance Program is a program of the UCLA College of Letters and Science and applies only to majors within L&S. This includes the majors of most Clovis Community College transfers, but does not include the Schools of Engineering & Applied Science; Architecture; Music; Nursing; Theatre, Film and Television; Public Affairs, or Education & Information Studies.
How to Apply with UCLA TAP
In order to apply through UCLA TAP you will need to make sure that your major and any secondary major are TAP eligible and within the College of Letters and Science at UCLA. You will also need to meet all other admissions requirements for the college and your major as indicated by your Clovis Community College counselor, UCLA and ASSIST.
You also need to be on track to complete at least 5 honors contracts in courses worth at least 15 combined units by the end of the spring semester in which you graduate. You must have a grade of A or B in each of those courses. Only transfer students are eilgible for TAP, which means that concurrent enrollment and Middle College students are not eligible unless they have also taken college courses since their high school graduation. The TAP application form will be a secondary application that you complete after submitting your general application to UCLA. Please contact the Honors Program Coordinator for more information.
