Clovis Community College was recently awarded the NSF (National Science Foundation) Improving Undergraduate STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics) Education grant.
Geology Instructor Dr. Michelle Selvans, served as a co-principal investigator, alongside Fresno State colleagues to apply for the grant last spring. Their project title is “GP-UP: Building Opportunities through Networks of Discovery in the Geosciences (GEOBOND).”
Dr. Selvans is also a co-author on “Mercury's Crustal Thickness and Contractional Strain.” The article was published on August 30 in the journal Geophysical Research Letters. The first author, Thomas R. Watters, is at the Smithsonian/National Air and Space Museum (NASM), and Dr. Selvans worked on this research with him when she was a Postdoctoral Fellow at NASM, and as a Research Affiliate since then.
Congratulations Dr. Selvans!
