President Lori Bennett and a team traveled to Los Angeles on November 14 to accept this prestigious award for the college’s extraordinary work in awarding and implementing the Associate Degree for Transfer (ADT). The college is one of 12 California community colleges to receive this statewide award. College representatives that joined Dr. Lori Bennett include Dean of Instruction Dr. John Forbes, Admissions and Records Manager Reynani Hawkins, and English Instructor Von Torres.
The Campaign for College Opportunity held a reception that brought together over 150 attendees representing California’s higher education leadership, elected officials, corporate sponsors, and civic and business leaders.
The Associate Degree for Transfer (ADT) is a degree offered at all California community colleges, which guarantees transfer to many four-year universities.
The ADT degrees are the results of Senate Bill 1440, authored by then-Senator Alex Padilla in 2010, which offers students a streamlined transfer pathway with guaranteed admission and junior standing to participating universities, and saves students time and money.
“Clovis Community College is honored to be named a 2019 Champion for Higher Education for the second year in a row for our exemplary work in awarding Associate Degrees for Transfer (ADT) by the Campaign for College Opportunity organization. Thank you to our faculty and staff for their hard work in helping our students achieve their transfer goals. I am very proud of our ADT students, who started their educational journey at Clovis Community College, then successfully transferred to a CSU or other university to earn a 4-year degree,” Dr. Lori Bennett, president, Clovis Community College.
Out of 115 California Community Colleges, Clovis Community College is one of the top institutions making college dreams a reality with the Associate Degree for Transfer and we are excited to be honored as a 2019 Champion of Higher Education Excellence in Transfer by The Campaign for College Opportunity organization.
“The Associate Degree for Transfer pathway gave me a clear cut plan of what I needed to accomplish in the shortest amount of time necessary and I was able to use my GI Bill® benefits,” Douglas Dean, Veteran Student at Clovis Community College.
The Associate Degree for Transfer has supported Clovis Community College students in achieving their goal to transfer. Currently, Clovis Community College offers 23 ADT programs.
