Content Creators
Guidelines for Content Creators
Content Creators are anyone on campus who creates digital content that is shared campus-wide or with the public. For example, this includes emails, event flyers, pdf documents, videos, and any web content.
The importance of your role
Content creators have the responsibility and opportunity to create content that is accessible to all. It is important that all materials disseminated campus-wide, whether they are posted to the website or sent via email, are accessible to the public and to college personnel.
Action Plan
Content creators should be familiar with the accessibility requirements of digital content, including PDFs, PowerPoints, Word Documents, and videos.
Content creators, who are creating content for the website, are required to complete accessibility training prior to accessing the Content Management System that feeds the website (CASCADE CMS). A selection of micro-courses is available in Canvas and all faculty and staff are auto-enrolled. The website training in CASCADE includes additional accessibility training. CASCADE includes an accessibility checker which automatically flags issues prior to sending to workflow. All updates are reviewed by the Web Content Engineer prior to publication and manual accessibility checks form part of that review.
Resources
Faculty and Staff are automatically enrolled in the Accessibility Micro Courses in Canvas
Additional resources and training materials are also available on the CCC website.
