Monthly Board Highlights - February 2018
If you were unable to attend the February 6, 2018 Board of Trustees meeting, here are some of the actions that took place.
The Board of Trustees heard the following reports and presentations:
- A bond workshop by Vice Chancellor Miktarian on the status of the projects and escalation of costs

- Chancellor’s Review of Board Policies 3200 (Accreditation) and 6720 (Unlawful Business on Campus)
- Governor’s 2018-2019 January Budget Proposal
- Clovis Community College Student Athlete Katrina Thompson who was recognized by the United Soccer Coaches Association (USCA) as a First Team Scholar All-American. As a defender and team captain on the Crush women’s soccer team this past fall, Thompson helped lead the college to a 15-7-1 record and a playoff appearance while being voted Central Valley Conference Defensive MVP and earning First Team All-Region honors. She holds a 4.0 gpa and plans to transfer to San Jose State University and major in math.

- An agreement with the City of Clovis for transit services and to extend the existing transit agreement with the City of Fresno (FAX). The proposed contract with the City of Clovis, similar to the existing FAX agreement, is for transit bus services that allow students and staff to use Clovis transit at no cost to them.
- 2018-2019 Residence Hall and Meal Plan Rates at Reedley College
- Reedley College Student Out-of-State Travel to Intercollegiate Horse Show Association Western Semi Finals and National Championship.
- The purchase of advanced manufacturing learning systems from Klein Educational Systems, Inc. for the mechatronics program at Clovis Community College.
- The selection of SIM-PBK Architects for architectural services for the new West Fresno Campus.
Adopted the 2018-2019 Budget Development Calendar
Forwarded the name of Trustee Eric Payne as a candidate for the California Community College Trustees Board.
Approved the following grant agreement recommendations:
- Reedley College Zero Textbook Cost Grant with the California Community College Chancellor's Office
Agreement Term: January 1, 2018 - December 31, 2018
District Location: Reedley College
Total Funding: $150,000
The funding will provide an opportunity to develop a zero textbook cost degree. Students will have the opportunity for increased participation in Open Educational Resources (OER), which is an online resource available to students at no cost. - SCCCD Proposition 39 Clean Energy Workforce Program with Kern Community College District
Agreement Term: January 1, 2018 - November 30, 2018
Total Funding: $292,000
The funding will provide Fresno City College and Reedley College resources to provide energy related instructional programs. Fresno City College will receive $232,000 which will assist in off-campus industrial refrigeration courses and improve FCC's HVAC instructor training, equipment and instructional materials. Reedley College will receive $60,000 to assist in the purchase of new Faulty Assisted Circuits for Electronics Training (FACET). The FACET will provide necessary functional work stations for students to practice electrical circuit training.
Closed Session Action
The board took action in closed session to approve a purchase agreement for 13.51 acres of land at 2423 S. Walnut Avenue, Fresno from TFS Investments, Inc. Total purchase price is $675,500, which is $100,000 per acre for half of the land, and the other half of the land was donated.
