Monthly Board Highlights - December 2021

If you were unable to attend the December 14th, 2021 Special and Regular Board of Trustees meetings, here are some of the actions that took place.

In the Special Board Meeting there was a Trustee Fellowship Intersession Project Workshop with Bensimon & Associates, LLC. There was nothing to report out from the special meeting’s closed session.

At the Regular Board Meeting, the Board elected officers for 2022:

  • Nasreen Johnson President
  • Deborah Ikeda Vice President
  • Richard Caglia Secretary

The Board adopted the 2022 Board meeting calendar. All regular meetings will be the first Tuesday of the month at 4:30 p.m. with the exception of January, June and December.

The Board approved the employment contract of Dr. Carole Goldsmith as the new chancellor.

The Board heard the following reports and presentations:

Public Hearing and Adoption

  • Conveyance of right of way easement to the City of Reedley at Reedley College Center for Fine and Performing Arts

Approved the following Grant Agreements:

Training Opportunities in Agriculture Systems and Technology Reedley College has received a new agreement from the United States Department of Agriculture. The proposed program will expand job-based experiential learning opportunities for working adults and students in the Reedley College service area. The funding will provide industry-based training apprenticeships allowing students to earn income as they learn, job-based learning opportunities, the utilization of cutting edge technology and advance data skills in their learning experiences. The funding will be received over three years.

Reedley College has received a new $500,000 Training Opportunities in Agriculture Systems and Technology grant from the U.S. Department of Agriculture. The funding will provide industry-based training apprenticeships allowing students to earn income as they learn, job-based learning opportunities, the utilization of cutting edge technology and advance data skills in their learning experiences. The funding will be received over three years.

The District has received five new agreements from the San Joaquin Valley Unified Air Pollution Control District for a total of $97,259 for five new alternative fuel vehicles.

Fresno City College has received a new $18,000 award from the State Center Community College Foundation. The funding is made available from the Gene Haas Foundation. The funding will provide scholarships for computer numerical controlled (CNC) machine technology and CNC machining-based engineering programs.

Closed Session

The Board of Trustees took the following actions in closed session to be reported out at this time:

    • The Board voted 7 to 0 to reject a government claim submitted by Michael Stannard as to any incidents in the claim that were timely presented, and to return the remainder of the claim as late.
    • The Board voted 7 to 0 to reject a government claim submitted by CSEA.
