Clovis Community College is seeking an equity-minded Vice President of Student Services that will provide unifying and participatory leadership to a dynamic, complex, and diverse college. The vice president will build upon the college’s strong legacy of achievement and leadership in the community.

The vice president will be a student-focused, dynamic, kind and collaborative leader who is committed to advancing student access, equity, and success for our diverse student body. The vice president will expand existing relationships with community organizations and build upon strong partnerships with to advance the economic and social mobility of our students.

Clovis Community College (CCC) is a fully accredited two-year public college in California’s agricultural Central Valley, situated between Fresno County’s two largest cities, Fresno and Clovis. The college is a Hispanic Serving Institution enrolling more than 8,500 students a semester, with 43% of those are Hispanic and 66% are low- income.

The vice president will collaborate with their dedicated team of professionals to ensure that the college maintains its strong integration of student equity and success, while working towards achieving Clovis Community College’s mission and strategic goals. The vice president is responsible for providing leadership and vision for college-wide student services and ensuring an increase in student completion rates.

Clovis Community College is known for its innovative spirit, positive climate, high transfer rates, and dedication to closing equity gaps. The faculty, staff, and leadership are creative, caring, collegial, and collaborative and focused on student success. The College is a long-standing guided pathways College and has recently joined the Achieving the Dream network in 2024.  The College is seeking a leader who will facilitate and nurture this climate, as the campus grows and evolves.

 


Minimum and Desirable Qualifications

All candidates must have evidence of responsiveness to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, gender identity, sexual orientation, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students, as these factors relate to the need for equity-minded practices;

and

  • Earned master’s degree from a regionally accredited institution; and seven (7) years of increasingly responsible experience as an academic administrator or in a faculty leadership role, at least two years of which years were in a management capacity involving student services functions, operations and activities, preferably in a California community college;
or
  • Meet the state minimum qualifications for an educational administrator, which include a master’s degree and at least one year of formal training, internship or leadership experience reasonably related to the administrative assignment; 
or
  • California Community College Supervisory Credential.

Experience and skill with addressing issues of equity; recent experience working with African American, Latinx, Native American, and other racially minoritized students and an understanding of how historical patterns of exclusions of these groups in higher education shape patterns of participation and outcomes; willingness to examine and remediate one’s relational practices to more effectively engage and support racially minoritized students; and a commitment to participatory governance, consensus building, and team approach to management.

Demonstrated skills and experience to lead in assigned areas and understands the importance of the Vice President Student Services role the college. Engages in a creative, innovative, and collaborative manner with all constituent groups. Accesses and assimilates information and uses quantitative and qualitative data for decision-making, planning, mobilizing resources, and motivating individuals to creatively overcome challenges facing the District and to make continuous improvements in operations, programming, procedures, and services.

Advocacy Skills Is an advocate for student support programs and services and their role in contributing to student success. Knowledge and understanding of the Student-Centered Funding Formula and seeks opportuniities to expand funding and staffing. Develops relationships with colleagues statewide.
